Samsung Introduces Silver Ions -- via Electrolysis-- into Washing Machines

The new Samsung VRT front-loading washing machine, starting at a retail price of $1200, uses a patented Silver CareTM Technology to release silver ions ( Ag+) into the wash. The silver ions ( Ag+ ) are generated via electrolysis using 99.9% pure silver.

Samsung developed this technology as an energy saving feature, citing a 99.9% kill rate for tested bacteria. The selling feature of the Silver Care technology is that odor causing bacteria may be eliminated using cold water.

The new VRT Washing Machine debuted for the first time at the 2007 Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (K/BIS) in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 2007.

Boycott this product! It uses silver nano-particle technology which is bad! The EPA classifies silver as an environmental hazard because of its toxic effects on aquatic plants and animals. A study published in 2005 found that nanosilver is 45 times more toxic than regular, standard silver. Another study found that nanosilver has the potential to destroy beneficial bacteria used in wastewater treatment. This stuff is making its way into our soil and water systems and polluting our environment and all of us. I found out all the horrors about common day products from reading "Slow Death by Rubber Duck." and started doing an internet search on all these products. Anything with "antibacterial" these days means chemicals that pollute the environment and our own human bodies, and are a marketing scheme by corporations to sell more of their products. So sad...
